Automobile Association Philippines (AAP)

The AAP or the Automobile Association Philippines is typically a non-profit organization which is the oldest and largest motorist association in the country. Previously known as the Philippine Motor Association or PMA, it provides services for its members consisting of motorists of the country. It is one of the major advocacies of Road Safety, promoting and ensuring such policies are adhered to and are in place while overseeing the motor sports industry in the country.

Typically, the AAP is an advocacy group where they are involved primarily in Road Safety and its related policies and issues. Essentially, the AAP is involved in drafting traffic policies and environmental issues which affect motorists in and around the country. It provides, among many education and awareness to the general public about such issues as well as services to its members. Apart from motor sports, of which the AAP is a one of the major promoters, it is also the representing voice of motorists in the government where they are responsible to raise issues and matters with related agencies like the MMDA (Metro Manila Development Authority), the LTO (Land Transportation Office) and the DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways).

The AAP's objectives were first proposed back in 1931 where it is to promote and encourage a safe driving environment in the Philippines as well as to assist in various other sections of motoring like insurance, travel arrangements and such. The AAP is affiliated with international agencies like the Alliance Internationale de Tourisme (AIT) and Federation Internationale de l`Automobile (FIA).
